City Council, Planning Commission and the Economic Development Authority discussed the final ULI report on how to redevelop the GRT on September 15, grappling with how to squeeze the City’s many functional needs into its 5 acres there.
The ULI-TAP discussions on the Gordon Road Triangle suggested a phased redevelopment, including re-doing an earlier property yard study, zoning for more multi-family and mixed-use housing, and affordable housing.
The Water Wars between the City and Fairfax County resulted in the sale of the water utility and a tax increase for residents. However, the boundary adjustments brought opportunities in West Falls and the Gordon Road area.
The feasibility study for a new property yard on Gordon Road has been released, including placement of facilities on the lots and a concept design. One lot is left open for future public-private development.
